About the project

The Bina-Katni railway route in Madhya Pradesh, India, is an important station for commercial goods and passengers. The embankment faces problems of slope erosion due to its profile and adverse weather conditions like heavy monsoons. Since the embankment was 5 m to 8 m high, it required extra care, which would take extra time and need skilled labour, which causes the cost to increase. 

The StrataWeb® solution, suggested by Strata’s geotechnical experts, leaves a low carbon footprint along the highway embankment slope, besides protecting the slopes against erosion despite its height. StrataWeb® geocells confine the aggregate on the slope and ensure protection against any erosion. StrataWeb® is a lightweight, and strong, three-dimensional, curvilinear rhomboidal shaped, cellular confinement system. It can be used as a foundation reinforcement mat as well as an erosion control barrier for slope surfaces.

This product is long-lasting and robust. The work can be done faster with the help of unskilled labour. It is eco-friendly and saves up to 50% of the cost as compared to the conventional solution.
