Overview
What is Erosion Control?
Erosion control is the practice of preventing or reducing water or wind erosion in highway embankments, land development, coastal areas, and site construction as well as lining slopes for reservoirs, storm water ponds and irrigation channels.

Applications of Erosion Control
Strata’s incline solutions help slope erosion by effectively confining the upper infill along the slope. Strata’s slope erosion system can be used on very steep slopes (as steep as 60 degrees) and provides a cost-effective solution compared to alternatives such as stone pitching. The system provides multiple infill options such as vegetative soil, concrete, crushed stone or debris, sand, and practically any locally available material based on the outer finish required. When a geomembrane liner is used and cannot be punctured, StrataWeb® is a perfect system to protect the liner and the slope. It can be laid on the liner without any requirement for puncturing and is anchored at the crest of the slope. Strata’s system includes all accessories required to lay and anchor the slope – StrataLock®, StrataFast®, and StrataCord®.

StrataWeb® geocells – A slope erosion protection system for embankments
The Jordan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) was planning to build a petroleum strategic reserves terminal in the east of Amman, Jordan. They wanted to increase the petroleum storage capacity in the area, which required an increase in the base width of the embankment. The slopes of the embankment required protection from slope erosion.

Slope protection for railway track for thermal power plant using StrataWeb® geocells
The railway link between Goindwal Sahib and the nearest railway station, Khadoor Sahib, is a single-track corridor for the transportation of coal to the thermal power plant at Goindwal Sahib. Since the railway line controls the lifeline of the power plant, the rail link needed to be kept fully operational throughout the year. The link traverses through cuts with embankments on either side. While the slopes of these embankments were intrinsically stable, erosion along the slopes posed operational problems.

Afforesting the concrete jungle on rooftop using StrataWeb®
Green roofs have become a growing roofing option with the increased desire for high-performance buildings, sustainable building products, and an attractive appearance. Green roofs slow down the water flow by retaining up to 75% of the rainwater, thus alleviating the pressure on stormwater infrastructures. When soil erodes, especially during harsh weather conditions, the slope can get damaged. For this case, the client wanted to have a high–performance rooftop for a residential property that could withstand the adverse weather conditions and give an aesthetic look.
