High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Geomembranes

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Geomembranes

Engineered for Reliable Containment

StrataLiner™ is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane engineered for reliable containment and environmental protection across environmental, water-management, mining and infrastructure applications.

Strata's membrane manufacturing brings the same engineering discipline, manufacturing control and quality practices that define its geosynthetics portfolio to every StrataLiner™ roll.

Highly durable HDPE is combined with carbon black, antioxidants and other additives. Carbon black provides UV resistance, while antioxidants and stabilizers help slow oxidative degradation over the geomembrane's service life.

This composition, together with HDPE's inherent chemical resistance and mechanical strength, makes StrataLiner™ well suited to demanding containment applications.

Product Range

StrataLiner™ is available in widths of up to 8 m (26 ft) and thicknesses ranging from 0.75 mm to 3 mm.

It is manufactured in three surface configurations:

  • Smooth surfaces on both sides
  • Textured surface on one side
  • Textured surfaces on both sides

The smooth variant provides a uniform surface for general containment applications. Textured variants provide enhanced interface friction for slopes and other applications where increased stability is required.

Material & Composition

  • Manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin
  • Carbon black incorporated for UV resistance
  • Antioxidant and heat-stabilizer package formulated to resist long-term oxidative degradation
  • Virgin raw materials, free of post-consumer recycled content

Mechanical & Chemical Performance

  • High tensile strength and puncture/tear resistance characteristic of HDPE geomembranes
  • Broad chemical resistance to aromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons, acids, alkalis and industrial leachates
  • Stress crack resistance and oxidation induction time (OIT) monitored as standard batch-testing parameters
  • Dimensional stability across temperature cycling and prolonged exposure

Manufacturing

PRECISION MANUFACTURING. CONTROLLED QUALITY. CONSISTENT PERFORMANCE.

StrataLiner™ is manufactured using precision flat-cast extrusion technology, from carefully selected virgin HDPE resin.

Our manufacturing process combines automated monitoring, controlled texturing and multi-stage quality checks to deliver consistent thickness, surface quality and product performance across every roll.

How Is StrataLiner™ Manufactured?

01 — Selected Virgin HDPE Resin

StrataLiner™ is manufactured from carefully selected virgin HDPE resin, formulated with carbon black, antioxidants and other stabilizers to support UV resistance and long-term durability.

02 — Precision Flat-Cast Extrusion

The HDPE formulation is processed using precision flat-cast extrusion technology, providing controlled and consistent membrane thickness across widths of up to 8 m (26 ft).

03 — Automatic Thickness Control

An X-ray scanning system continuously monitors membrane thickness during production, providing real-time monitoring and adjustments to maintain thickness consistency.

04 — Controlled Surface Texturing

For textured variants, StrataLiner™ uses a spray-on texturing method to create the required surface texture while ensuring that minimum membrane thickness is not compromised.

05 — Spark Testing

A standard spark-testing system is used to identify pinholes and potential discontinuities, supporting the integrity of the finished geomembrane.

06 — Multi-Stage Quality Control

Quality checks are carried out at multiple stages of production and on every batch to maintain consistent manufacturing quality from roll to roll.

07 — In-House Laboratory Testing

Our GAI-LAP-certified laboratory supports in-house testing of mechanical properties and long-term durability parameters, including ESCR, UV aging, HP-OIT and other relevant tests.

Testing & Quality Control

Mechanical Performance

StrataLiner™ is tested for key mechanical properties associated with HDPE geomembrane performance, including:

  • Tensile strength
  • Puncture resistance
  • Tear resistance

Stress Crack Resistance

ESCR (Environmental Stress Crack Resistance) is monitored as a standard batch-testing parameter to assess resistance to stress cracking.

Oxidative Durability

Oxidation induction time testing is used to monitor the material's resistance to oxidative degradation.

Testing includes:

  • OIT
  • HP-OIT

UV & Long-Term Durability

Long-term durability testing includes UV aging to evaluate performance under prolonged exposure.

Thickness & Dimensional Control

Thickness is continuously monitored during manufacturing using an X-ray scanning system, supporting consistency across the full roll width.

Dimensional stability is also monitored across temperature cycling and prolonged exposure.

Spark Testing

A standard spark-testing system is used to identify pinholes and potential discontinuities.

Laboratory Testing

Strata's GAI-LAP-certified laboratory supports in-house testing of mechanical properties and long-term durability parameters, including ESCR, UV aging, HP-OIT and other relevant tests.

Standards

StrataLiner™ products comply with the applicable requirements of GRI-GM13 and relevant BIS requirements, as specified for the product.

Quality Assurance: Verified, Not Assumed

Meeting national and international specifications is non-negotiable. We don't claim compliance separately-it's the standard we manufacture to, verified by real-time in-process monitoring and batch-by-batch testing. Our GAI-LAP and ISO/NABL accredited laboratory tests every batch to confirm it delivers the properties we've committed to you. Quality control runs through every stage of production, because consistency across rolls and batches is what matters on your site.
