This project includes concrete lining using StrataWeb® geocells for a storm water drain located near the airport in Bangalore, Karnataka. The client was looking for a solution that enabled uniformity in the concrete and minimal maintenance.
The earlier approach in this case was using geomembrane with PCC lining. This approach was very expensive and time consuming. The main challenges were tight deadline to finish the project.
The traditional method was to use a geomembrane which would be an expensive and time-consuming affair. Strata’s geotechnical experts designed an innovative system using StrataWeb® and StrataWrap for the lining.
This reduced the thickness of the lining. The design also eliminated the need for shuttering and formwork that was required for the conventional concreting process. The construction time and costs were significantly reduced. StrataWeb® was infilled with concrete that ensured uniformity across the entire canal. No other solution could have been executed as fast, economically and effectively.
