Lambak Kanan, a village in Brunei, consists of five village subdivisions. The route forms a connection between the villages. This route is also important as it has a high traffic movement. The Public Works Department, Brunei, had to provide a solution to manage the erosion and prevent further scouring of the slope.
Slope erosion protection using StrataWeb® geocells was recommended by the geotechnical experts. The style recommended for this project was SW 660-100, and black topsoil was spread to close the turfing.
The infilled geocells provided a stable layer of confined material over the slope surface. They resisted sheet flow from the surface runoff. The challenges during the project were to have proper control measure along with safety for the nearby residents. Also, to protect the exposed slope during the rainy season.
A major aspect of the work was to provide and maintain HSE and traffic management along major simpangs. Reducing the potential for erosion and improving ground stabilization was Strata’s innovative solution. Strata’s value addition included an environment friendly, durable, quick, efficient, and safe installation to save project cost and time.
Therefore StrataWeb® was selected as an innovative solution to prevent the slope from failure.
Safety was of massive importance because of the nearby residence.
