The client had built a new manufacturing facility and was looking to strengthen the internal roads for the yarn mill at Amravati, Maharashtra. The site had expansive soil that can cause a weak foundation, and hence a technically sound and robust solution was demanded.
The client was looking for a fast, robust and cost-effective solution. Conventionally, GSB with a concrete section of 200 mm was proposed. This would have been a costly affair. Strata’s geotechnical experts recommended using its unique, versatile, cellular confinement system known as StrataWeb® geocell. It is used as a foundation reinforcement for enhancing the load-carrying characteristics of weak soils.
StrataWeb® helps in confining the soil due to its three-dimensional structure. It helps distribute the load to a wider area, thereby reducing stresses on the overall crust thickness. It also helps in strengthening the pavement life by reinforcing soil within.
Introducing StrataWeb® in the subgrade improves the pavement’s longevity and economizes the overall crust thickness. The solution helped faster execution of work due to ease of installation of StrataWeb®.
