Engineering approach

Strata Geosystems offers SGBGrid™, a biaxial geogrid specifically developed for pavement and base reinforcement applications.

SGBGrid™ is installed within the granular base or subbase layer of flexible pavement systems. Placed over the prepared subgrade and beneath the aggregate layer, it provides lateral confinement in both longitudinal and transverse directions, restricting aggregate movement under repeated traffic loading.

The interaction between aggregate particles and the grid apertures enhances interlock within the base layer. This reinforcement mechanism increases the structural capacity of the pavement system and strengthens its performance under cyclic and heavy axle loads.

Design considerations include subgrade strength, traffic intensity, aggregate characteristics, and pavement layer configuration to ensure effective reinforcement and long-term durability.
