Middlewood Locks is a unique waterside development under construction in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, creating housing, workplaces, and local amenities, including green space. The full scheme would provide 2,000 new homes, more than 750,000 square feet of commercial space, and an extensive new public realm.
The client wanted to build a slope that would be a part of the vegetated embankment, adjacent to a step access to a higher level of the development. For our high-quality product at a competitive price, with our expert knowledge and engineering assistance, the client contacted Strata. We recommended the StrataWeb® Slope Stabilisation System, which is made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that’s ultrasonically welded together, making it very robust yet extremely flexible.
Since these geocells are perforated and textured for resistance and drainage, they confine the topsoil inside the cells, protecting the root zone layer during germination and allowing vegetation to fully take hold. Use of StrataWeb® allowed straightforward installation, saving a lot of time, energy, and money. It helped prevent soil erosion & increase stability, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing slope.
