Erosion control

About the project

Owing to soil erosion because of wind and rainwater run-off, Suzlon was plagued with the exposure of foundations for its twenty wind energy generators (WTGs) at Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. Soil erosion can be severe during heavy rain or wind, and footings founded at shallow depths can get exposed. StrataWeb® geocells laid at the surface with appropriate in-fill protect against such erosion.

StrataWeb® prevented erosion of the surface soil by confinement. Hence hardly any maintenance or replenishment of soil cover was required. This reduced the life-cycle costs of the system.

Therefore, the conventional method of soil replacement was not feasible. Also, solutions like stone columns, sand piling were time-consuming and very expensive.
