The Surface Sealing and Post-Closure Maintenance project at Villena’s MSW Treatment Plant Landfill showcased Strata’s expertise in providing innovative solutions for environmental integration.
The scope of the project included designing and delivering rainwater drainage systems and gas collection using Strata’s comprehensive StrataDrain™ drainage composite range. Additionally, Strata played a key role in reinforcing and stabilising slopes through the application of StrataGrid™.
The client’s primary requirement was to effectively close the landfill while ensuring environmental considerations were met with. A notable challenge in the project was the need to design anchor trenches within a confined space. Strata responded with a unique installation methodology tailored to the project’s specific needs, addressing the challenges presented by, the limited space.
In contrast to conventional methods involving gravels and common geotextiles, Strata’s solution offered several advantages. These included a higher flow rate, improved design efficiency, lower overloads, and a higher security factor, all contributing to a moreeconomical overall solution. The project’s standout feature was Strata’s ability to adapt the geosynthetic solution to the extremely complicated topography of Villena’s landfill, showcasing the company’s versatility in addressing complex environmental engineering challenges.
